Today, girls continue to encounter significant obstacles to their well-being and success, such as teen pregnancy, high school completion, body image, and violence.
Our society is sending a clear message that affects girls’ education, aspirations, and leadership. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
- 1 in 4 girls will not graduate high school in the US. But with you in her corner, girls can be prepared to graduate and achieve a bright future.
- 78% of girls are unhappy with their bodies by age 17. At Girls Inc., girls get support to build positive body image and the confidence to avoid unhealthy behaviors and break past stereotypes.
- 3 in 10 girls will become pregnant before the age of 20. At Girls Inc., we help girls prepare to own their future, respect themselves, and make healthy choices.
- 1 in 5 girls will be a victim of childhood sexual abuse. At Girls Inc., we help girls understand they have the right to be safe in the world and confidence to advocate for themselves and others.

Welcome to Girls Inc. of Shelbyville/Shelby County where our mission is to provide a safe and positive environment for girls to be inspired to be strong, smart, and bold! We aim to empower girls from 5-18 years old through age-appropriate, research-based educational programming designed to teach girls about economic and media literacy, career and life planning, health and sexuality, math and science, leadership and community, sports and adventure, and more! And we do so regardless of ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status all in an informal setting. Girls Inc. girls are self-reliant, capable, independent individuals!
